Chairman’s Report on FHVRRA activities

Residents associations are organisations formed by groups of people from a specific geographic community who come together to address issues within their area and act as a voice for their local community. Membership in a residents association is open to all people residing in the area represented by the Fish Hoek Valley Ratepayers and Residents Association. That geographic region covers: Clovelly to Sunnycove (False Bay seaboard in the east), Kalk Bay Mountains (TMNP) to the north, Ou Kaapse Weg and Glencairn Expressway in the west and Fish Hoek Mountains (TMNP) in the south.

The association addresses a wide spectrum of matters, acting as an advocacy group independent of any political process. A proactive community is necessary to guide the future of the Valley, making it imperative that all demographics are represented.

As we move further into the 21st century, it becomes even more important to have young people who are choosing this region as their home, to raise families, forge careers and enjoy the magnificent environment that defines the area.

Between meetings, various notices of interest to the community are also circulated to members – i.e. road upgrade notifications, Media Releases from Cape Town, anything requiring public participation.  If you don’t want to receive any of these notices, please let us know.  We keep various lists of the members; some of whom already are subscribed to the mentioned notices, so they don’t want duplication – you might choose only to receive the notice of a forthcoming meeting and the minutes of the previous meeting as some members do.
